Description

The Semel Institute is seeking a full time Staff Research Associate I to perform assays to assess RNA expression from cells and tissue by RT-PCR and preparing tissue samples from mice, including perfusion and cryopreservation of tissues, cryosectioning, and immunohistochemistry. You will be expected to maintain a high level of organization and an orderly lab environment. After initial training, research duties would be expected to be carried out independently with little or no supervision. This includes the design of experiments with appropriate experimental and control groups, keeping detailed, accurate records, and the analysis and preparation of data for presentations and publications. The incumbent would be expected to participate in the preparation of grant applications. Must be able to work within a highly interactive team with researchers at all levels of training. Pay Range: $24.88 - $29.67 hourly.

Qualifications

'-University level course work in molecular and cell biology. -Skills in routine molecular and cellular biology techniques. -Ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis sufficiently to convey experimental results to principal investigators. -Writing skills sufficient to compose laboratory protocols which are clear, concise, logical and display proper syntax and grammar. -Interpersonal skill to interact and collaborate effectively with scientist co-workers, graduate students, and faculty. -Skill in handling and disposing of contaminated material according to protocol. -Ability to organize raw data into relevant formats. -Reading skills sufficient to understand specific protocol relevant journal articles, and equipment. -Ability to perform library searches.
