Coordinator of Investigation
SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Investigations is responsible for conducting consumer and employee/ abuse and neglect investigations for all departments within the agency. This position also assists with agency safety initiatives and follow-up for Marrakech staff and assists with the Department of Labor/Unemployment activities for the organization, the handling of Workers’ Compensation investigations as well as employee relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Investigations for Consumers and Employees / Abuse and Neglect Investigations
Maintains current knowledge on all State regulations, pertaining to abuse and neglect and reporting requirements
Completes Consumer/Employee investigations
Completes all investigations within the required timeframes
Reviews abuse/neglect incident reports
Attends DDS-sponsored training (when available) on investigations, Abuse and Neglect and reporting requirements.

Reports the results of all investigations to the appropriate parties prior to any personnel action
Investigates, writes and reviews termination recommendations. Ensures staff are terminated in accordance with Marrakech Policies and Procedures and Employment Law.
Ensures fair personnel action is taken
Involved in and responsible for assigned employee issues, including suspensions, disciplinary procedures, and reassignments along with all paperwork associated with each
Unemployment
Communicates with DOL and unemployment agency regarding cases
Prepares Marrakech’s stance on unemployment claims
Gathers information regarding separation of employments
Represents the Organization at unemployment hearings and appeals
Workers’ Compensation
Maintains knowledge about current issues in Workers’ Compensation through Department of Labor updates and acts upon new trends accordingly
Ensures that the agency complies with all applicable Workers’ Compensation laws
Maintains communication with Initial Treatment Centers
Ensures that Workers’ Compensation files are updated and safeguarded
Ensures Workers’ Compensation monthly report is complete and submitted to the Risk Management Director
Ensures timesheets for Workers’ Compensation Staff are completed accurately and in a timely fashion
Presents safety awards to managers at First Thursday Meeting
Ensures that all workplace accidents/vehicle accidents are investigated
Works with insurance companies in regards to Workers’ Compensation claims
Researches and implements safety practices for the organization
Responsible for all paperwork/data involved in a timely fashion, in the above actions
Works in conjunction with safety program and assists in implementing training sessions designed to control/prevent work related injuries or accidents
Participates on the Safety committee
General Duties
Receives supervision from the Director of Risk Management
Completes annual background /Department of Motor Vehicle checks for all staff
Completes Annual DCF background checks for DCF-contracted programs
Assists with staff Benefit events
Participates in Quality Improvement activities
Reports unsafe conditions and situations immediately per agency policy and procedures
Represents the values, mission and vision of the organization
Serves all customers with alacrity
Communicates with co-workers and other providers accurately and professionally
Maintains training certifications as required

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Law or other relevant area is required. Two years of experience working with people with disabilities is preferred. Professional investigation experience will be considered in lieu of the above. This position requires strong interviewing and communication skills as well as strong report writing skills. Basic knowledge of word processing and computer skills is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Due to the fact that continued program quality improvement is a responsibility of this position, various community sites will be frequented as well as riding in motor vehicles. The possession and available use of a registered, insured vehicle may be mandatory for this position.

SALARY

40,188/yr increases to 43,460/yr after completing 6 month intro period
