NCCE Afterschool Corps with NC State Juntos Program

The NC Afterschool Corps is an AmeriCorps VISTA project sponsored by North Carolina Campus Engagement (NCCE) at NC State University with their Juntos Program. The Afterschool Corps VISTA will build the capacity of afterschool and expanded learning programs that serve low-income children, while strengthening their connection to local colleges and universities. NC State launched the Juntos Program in 2007, with a plan to provide high school Latino students and their families with the knowledge, skills, and resources to ensure high school graduation and increase college access and attendance rates. This VISTA would collaborate with Work Study Students, the Assistant Director of the Juntos Program, and community partners to coordinate fall, spring, and summer retreats, lead meetings, and other state-wide programming! As an Afterschool Corps member you will be part of a service cohort and one of several volunteers across North Carolina that works with a North Carolina University.

Member Duties : As a North Carolina Afterschool Corps member you will have the opportunity to be a part of a service cohort building the capacity of afterschool and expanded learning programs serving low-income children across North Carolina. Corps members may: Assess community and organizational needs and identify assets • Recruit and train volunteers • Develop systems for volunteer coordination• Create policies and procedures that increase program effectiveness • Support citizen and student leadership and participation in service • Seek new resources through fund-raising and grant-writing • Facilitate community-based research and co-curricular opportunities that support communities • Manage programmatic outreach, communications, and marketing • Coordinate afterschool awareness events and national day of service events• Promote AmeriCorps, VISTA, and national service.
